The Detective Game

This project was created in collaboration with the Intercultural Institute (Διαπολιτισμικό Ινστιτούτο) and was approved for implementation in public schools by the General Secretariat of Primary and Secondary Education, and Special Education of the Ministry of Education of Greece in June 2024.
The project utilizes students’ experiences and creates new ones by promoting their cognitive abilities. Students process images and concepts related to their everyday lives, as well as works of art, in an experiential, creative, interactive and inclusive process. Active participation and critical thinking, discovery spirit, imagination and creativity are supported and activated. Based on the Visual Literacy tools, students observe, analyze meanings, create new ones and are encouraged to present and comment on their own questions, thoughts and observations. They gradually move away from familiar ways of interpretation and explore alternative options and possibilities that change their perspectives and broaden their cognitive horizons. As a result, their ability to share, listen and create safe space for all different viewpoints to co-exist is enhanced, increasing the values of social empathy and inclusivity.
The project is completed in 4 consecutive teaching hours; it does not require physical skills; and addressess all students, including students with learning and language difficulties, regardless of any background.
The students cultivate their so-called soft skills critical and holistic thinking, imagination and creativity, cooperation, respectful communication and empathy, openness to the ‘new’ and adaptability.
